Entrapment Rescue - Power Presses

hydraulic power pressPower Press Entrapment Rescue Training is not only a legal OSHA requirement but also a common sense procedure based training required in the workplace.  Most work place accidents are avoidable when following all the rules and regulations set out by the OSHA standards. However, unlike most safety training courses we not only train your workers the regulations, but we also encompass how to safely react through training and preparedness in a human entrapment situation.

Course Overview:

Catered to your specific environment we provide a guideline for developing entrapment rescue procedures for individual presses.

With our Power Press an Entrapment Rescue we will always provide a clear understanding of the component parts of both hydraulic power presses and mechanical presses.

This understanding is necessary to assist your worker in making a competent entrapment rescue with clear and concise decisions under duress; this is done through theory and practical training. The actions preformed during an entrapment rescue could mean the difference between a minor injury or the loss of an arm, be ready, be educated and be prepared.

Program Content:

Legal requirements and the CSA standard (Z142-2)

  • Proper use of jacks
  • How different power presses function
  • A clear understanding of the different component parts of various power presses
  • Determining crankshaft position and direction of the flywheel and gears
  • Reducing the risk of entrapment through guarding and lockout
  • Overriding guards and controls that may delay a rescue
  • Discussion of who is needed on the rescue team
  • Sample entrapment rescue procedures for hydraulic and mechanical presses

In all situations, there is a difference between a rescue and a recovery which comes down to proper training, common sense and timing. We ensure your workers are prepared and safe with the right knowledge and tools.
